“I Tried AI And I Didn’t Like It”

Fair.

But did you…

  • use the paid/pro version, or just the free one?

  • provide enough context to the model?

  • pick the right task to try it out on?

Despite the hype, AI is neither a silver bullet nor a magic wand and it certainly isn't a mind reader. It has real power and promise, but only if it's wielded well.

Now, for personal fun-based exploration, it's fine to putter around a bit. Try out Sora, Suno, Nano Banana. Have fun with it, but don't overthink it.

But if you want to bring AI into your organization, a quick spot check by a voluntold individual isn't going to cut it: "Hey Sarah have a quick check if Gemini is good for making marketing copy."

"Well, boss, I asked it to make marketing copy and it's bland, generic, doesn't have our voice and—worst of all—uses the em-dash where a comma would do just fine."

No, if you're serious about exploring if and how AI can be useful to your business, you need to be serious about doing a thorough and honest evaluation.

I plan to share an in-depth breakdown of what's required here in the next couple of days. Stay tuned!
