Novelty Is A Defence Against Vibe-Replacement
Here's another issue with the "SaaS-is-dead" narrative. Using AI to cheaply recreate an existing software-as-a-service offering often only is cheap and easy because it's done for an entirely un-original idea, of which the AI, during training, has seen thousands of instances.
We teach basic web programming on examples like todo-list managers, so the internet is full of code examples for them. Pointing to the fact that your AI could make you a todo app is, therefore, not impressive.
If your app idea is novel and original, there can't be thousands of examples of it online already. Therefore, a wannabe vibe-coding competitor won't be able to easily replicate it. (You also won't be able to just vibe it into existence, too, but you're not afraid of a bit of hard work, are you?)
Can your competitors move faster, thanks to AI? Sure. But so can you. And if you know where you're going, with a coherent vision and plan, you can benefit from that acceleration much more.
